“The places I paint in the world, both on land & sea, help me catch a memory in time and express the vastness of a natural scene. I am very influenced by the Impressionists and their ability to capture the essence of a place with minimal detail of strokes. I like to begin with a striking idea of a place and how that place moved me emotionally and then, after much thought and planning, I play with design and composition, and then almost attack the paper with large brushes, big strokes, and energetic enthusiasm. And if the result moves people, it’s a real bonus.”

When I paint people, portraits, or children, I’m searching for an interior story that will reveal them to the outside world.
ABSTRACTS
I approach abstracts with a wide (mental) brush. Sometimes it’s purely about what moves me in expressive color at the moment.
